At the end of this post, I included a free crochet-along version of the triangle granny square pattern. And if you’d like the full step-by-step pattern for this cat bandana — including a printable version and instructions for the decorative edging on the sides of the triangle — it’s now available on my Etsy shop here. Your purchase helps support a small creator like me, and I truly appreciate it so much. Thank you! ♡
Lately I’ve been obsessed with making cute little crochet accessories for pets, and this triangle granny square cat bandana might be one of my favorite quick projects so far. It’s simple, adorable, beginner-friendly, and honestly so much fun to crochet
These bandana are also photograph beautifully for Etsy, Pinterest, and Instagram because the granny stitch texture looks so charming on camera. I had so much fun creating this design.
I wanted to create something soft and comfy for cats while still keeping that classic granny square charm. Instead of making a traditional square, I turned the pattern into a triangle shape to create the perfect little bandana.
What I love most about this crochet project is how quick and easy it is. You can finish one in just a short sitting, which makes it perfect for relaxing weekend crochet sessions, market prep, or handmade gifts for fellow cat lovers.
Why I Love This Crochet Cat Bandana

- Great for yarn scraps
- Super customizable
- Perfect for spring and summer pet accessories
You can play around with colors, add cute borders, or even make matching bandanas for multiple pets. I personally love using soft cotton yarn because it feels lightweight and comfortable for cats to wear.
Crochet Triangle Granny Square Style
The triangle granny square construction gives the bandana a classic handmade look while keeping the pattern easy to memorize. Once I got started, I honestly didn’t want to stop making them.
It’s one of those relaxing crochet projects where you can sit down with your favorite drink, crochet a few rounds, and suddenly have an adorable finished piece ready to wear.
